The Mamalilikulla First Nation were successful in their application for funding through the First Nation and Inuit Youth Employment Strategy Skills Link. The funding requirements states that an eligible youth participant for this employment opportunity must be between the ages of 18-30, not be in school and be unemployed.
The Mamalilikulla First Nation (MFN) is seeking an experienced and creative professional with dynamic written and oral communications skills to join our team. The Communications Coordinator will help finalize the MFN’s overall communications plan, communications strategy, rebuild the website, and continue to publish newsletters and other communications materials as required. This includes developing, formatting and circulating electronic communication to band members, website maintenance to ensure information posted is current and consistent, as well as tracking, measuring and reporting on the level of member interaction and traffic on the website.
Reporting to the Band Administrator, the Communications Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Administrator and staff to develop and implement communication strategies which will broaden the MFN’s impact and overall messaging.


• Collaborate with Administration and Chief & Council to ensure all programs and initiatives are communicated out effectively
• Provide accurate reporting and communications as requested by the Administrator
• Coordinate the planning, writing, editing, production and distribution of reports, newsletter and publications.
• Develop and maintain a band member data base
• The Communications Coordinator is also responsible for the development of promotional materials with regards to band membership programs and services
• Coordinate the planning, writing, editing, production and distribution of reports, newsletter and publications.
• One of the major tasks of the coordinator will be the ongoing management of the first nations’ newsletter
• Other duties as may be directed by the Chief & Council.

• Post-secondary education in a discipline relevant to communications, journalism or public relations. Consideration will be given to a combination of education, training and experience.
• Exceptional storytelling, written and oral communications skills – demonstrated ability to create well-crafted and timely communications.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• Creative thinking and problem solving skills
• Ability to communicate messages in a professional and engaging manner;
• Exceptional organizational abilities and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines, multitask and prioritize workload;
• Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating communication plans and materials;
• Strong computer skills and excellent knowledge of MS Office programs;
• Good knowledge of website management (content, updates, etc.).
