I am reaching out to you from Cuso International. We are a non-profit international development organization, working to improve the lives of people living with poverty and inequality around the globe. We have a long history of working with Indigenous peoples worldwide. Underpinning this work has been our belief in the importance of Indigenous self-determination.

We are currently seeking 10 Education Assistants to volunteer for the year 18-19. Volunteers will be placed in various schools in the Northwest Territories with the objective to improve education outcomes for Indigenous children and youth. We provide a comprehensive training program that prepares volunteers for the experience, along with a financial support package, including flights, accommodation and a monthly stipend.

Specific Objectives Include:
•Work in schools as teaching assistants and tutors, primarily in math, science and English, from grades four through 12.
•Support students accessing distance education methods with tutoring and computer skills.
•Assist in both local and school library staffing.
•Teach music and drama and help to stage theatre productions.
•Assist in teaching public speaking, radio and television production and communication for grades seven through 12.
•Help in extra-curricular activities including computer instruction, art, music, sports and recreation, and in other capacities depending on the skills and training of the volunteer and the needs of the school.

We need your help in sharing our opportunity and would be grateful if you could help us find volunteers!
