Duties:

Grizzly Bear Foundation (GBF) is seeking a part time contractor to assist us with fundraising event coordination. As Event Coordinator, you will provide logistical and administrative support to help actualize fundraising and outreach events. Your problem solving skills will ensure the successful execution of details, and your communication skills will allow you to work easily alongside GBF staff and an event committee. If you are an outgoing and organized person ready to take on the task of coordinating events to protect a species at risk, then this is the role for you!

Role:
Coordinate fundraising and outreach logistics, including details and processes relating to venues, auctions, ticketing, programs, catering, and marketing.
Help track event and outreach expenses and review accuracy of invoices.
Document plan(s) for the set-up, running, and tear down of outreach and fundraising event(s), identifying potential problems and offering potential solutions.
Providing promotional communications coordination (print and social media).
Coordinate ticket sales and guest lists, contracts, and auction items.
Coordinate marketing and sales related to outreach / fundraising.
Respond to enquiries from the public about events.
Other outreach and event related tasks as required.
Take meeting minutes and follow up with action items.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Currently obtaining post-secondary education in Special Event Planning, Marketing, Fundraising, Integrated Marketing Communications, or related field
Exceptional communication skills - both verbal & written, comfortable making phone calls
Time management and organizational skills
Keen attention to detail
Ability to execute integrated marketing communications and sales promotion tactics
A self starter with problem solving skills
Proven problem solving skills and attention to detail
Event planning experience an asset
Proficiency using computers, Google Drive, and contact management databases
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities as necessary, communicating as required to others
Enthusiasm and passion for environmental conservation

Training
Role specific onboarding to cover tools, resources, and relevant organizational information will be provided.

Timing, commitment, and location
This is a 12-week contract beginning Jun 4, 2018. Work related to your role requires 20 hours/week, and is to be completed at Grizzly Bear Foundation’s office in Vancouver. Pay will be $20.62 per hour.

Eligibility:
This job is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. To be eligible, applicants must:
be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment;
have been registered as a full­time student during the preceding academic year
intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
be a student in a secondary, post­secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* for the duration of the employment; and,
