Homalco First Nation Health is seeking a dynamic Addictions Prevention & Support Worker to deliver quality services and programming to Members in the Homalco community.

Creating opportunities for individuals and community to move toward a healing journey,the role will provide addictions prevention, education and awareness programs and services.
Job Responsibilities:
*Work collaboratively as part of the Homalco Health Team and Homalco Band staff to provide a range of quality services and programs to support addiction prevention for the Homalco community
*Community outreach and relationship development is a priority. Home visits,telephone calls and in-office meetings with clients and follow-ups
*Prevention services are a high priority for Homalco membership.Focus and priority will be to provide culturally safe/sensitive education and services by coordinating and facilitating workshops and sessions to raise awareness about addictions and addiction prevention for membership
*Communication and trust building with the Homalco community members is imperative.
*Service delivery must be provided in respectful and compassionate manner
*Provide addictions support and referrals to treatment and counseling
*Provide follow-up and after care for community members who return from treatment facility
*Provide resources and information to community members and maintain a resource library
*Prepare Bulletins and information packages on a monthly basis for community
*Communicate with Health Director regularly
*Support activities necessary for health promotion and sobriety for clientele as directed


*Post Secondary certification in addiction counseling or a diploma in community social services plus recent/related experience working with persons with addictions.
*Experience working with First Nations population an asset
*Excellent written and oral communication skills
*Reliable and flexible with after hours work
*Valid Drivers License
*Employee must undergo Criminal Record Check, required for working with vulnerable persons
