Indigenous Applicant Advisor

Salary $62,000.00 - $86,000.00 annually

Reporting to the Director, Employment Programs and Corporate Initiatives, the Indigenous Applicant Advisor fulfills an integral role in implementing the Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan for the BC Public Service. The Advisor will support Indigenous applicants, inform improvements to remove barriers in hiring and promote accessibility to public service employment opportunities.

This role will encompass identifying and implementing new protocols and procedures to best achieve the goal of increasing Indigenous representation; designing and implementing service delivery principles, processes and guidelines; providing employment support to Indigenous applicants; and assisting in the development of culturally sensitive recruitment/employment materials targeting Indigenous applicants and employees. You will work closely with Hiring Managers and Recruiters to identify and remove barriers throughout the hiring process. The successful applicant will have the proven ability to develop and maintain effective client and partner work relationships that result in mutually beneficial outcomes.

Qualifications for this role Include:
•Related degree, diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
•At least 2 years’ experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations and/or clients
•At least 2 years’ experience providing advice and/or services to a specific client group(s)
•Preference may be given to those with experience managing or providing advice or services in hiring and/or human resources within the BC Public Service
•Preference may be given to applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit)
