Temporary GIS Program Lead

Position Summary: Quatsino First Nation has a temporary need for expertise in geomatics, survey, mapping and GIS. The Quatsino Land Use Plan information must be arranged appropriately to be compatible with TUS and planning protocols of the province of British Columbia and federal Ministries.
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of Lands and Resources, the GIS Program Lead (Lead) will be the first point of contact for all matters with Quatsino First Nation's, Drone, Aerial Photography System and GIS System. The Lead will administer, coordinate and oversee geographic systems, and work with the Quatsino Lands and Resources Department to ensure that all data is kept secure and up to date. The person will also be responsible for other administrative duties as assigned and training entry-level personnel.


Requirements and Recommended Skills
•Priority is to be given to candidates with excellent technical and communication skills.
•Advanced computer literacy is a requirement and other technical skills such as operating recording video equipment and UAV operations is an asset. The candidate should be familiar with audio, video and graphics similar computer programs related to enhancing the TUS data sets.
•The candidate must have the ability to develop effective working relationships with staff, peers, and industry colleagues/ contacts in a team environment.
•The candidate must have strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
•Applicants with library and database management experience an asset.
•Previous GIS Fieldwork and/or ground truthing experience is required.
•A valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
