The Chamber of Commerce is hiring Visitor Services Counsellors
For the Port Hardy Visitor Centre

This position is a unique opportunity to provide travel advice to visitors and locals alike. The Visitor Services Counsellor is responsible for providing information on Port Hardy and the Vancouver Island North region, highlighting parks, cultural and historical sites, accommodations, shopping and tourism experiences available.

The successful candidates will understand the importance of the role they play in the visitor experience. They appreciate that each visitor is different and recognize that to provide exceptional travel advice, they must customize the information provided based on individual needs and interests.

Comprehensive training will provided.

The Visitor Services Counsellor will:
Promote a meaningful visitor experience in Port Hardy & Vancouver Island North
Provide information on transportation, accommodation and attractions
Distribute relevant travel publications to visitors
Provide support to the Events Coordinator in the production of Oceans Day & Canada Day
Communicate timely events or travel updates to passengers (Highway bulletins, Tourist Alerts etc.)
Document visitor statistics according to Tourism BC guidelines
Be an outstanding community ambassador at all times


Applicant Qualifications:
Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age and registered as a full-time student who is returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
Willing to be flexible with work schedule to include weekends and Canada Day
Available 35 hours per week from June 29 through Labour Day
A friendly, outgoing nature, flexible to change
Professional appearance, uniform (provided) and dress code required
Knowledge of North Island Region, Port Hardy, Province of BC
Basic Computer skills
Dedication to outstanding customer service
