Cape Mudge Band Council
This is a salaried position with benefits, after successful probationary period. It will be shared between the Cape Mudge and Quinsam Reserves and in conjunction with another Youth development worker. The Youth development worker is responsible for planning, implementing, budgeting and reporting activities for youth within the terms of our budget. The youth development worker is expected to meet educational and cultural targets. The program is primarily directed by needs assessments conducted by the Youth Worker. This program is a budgetary item, will be reviewed annually by Council and is subject to available funds.

Requirements:

Preference will be given to We Wai Kai Nation/Cape Mudge Band members with equivalent qualifications to other applicants.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications or equivalencies.
Grade 12
Post secondary education in a related field: i.e. child development, human services or sociology, kinesiology.
ECE experience, teacher's aid or education assistant experience in a formal setting is a definite asset.
Experience working with youth in a recreational/educational setting is an asset.
Demonstrate being active and physically fit.
Criminal record check required.
Must provide a driver's abstract.
Must possess a class 4 Drivers license or be willing to get one within 3 months ( probationary review time).
Must be skilled in program/activity planning, organizing, time management, budgeting, report writing.

Training in communications, interpersonal relationships, conflict resolution and or problem solving must be demonstrated

Have experience setting limits, and providing guidance to youth/families.
Individuals with a proven ability to multi task and organize there time efficiently.

Individuals, who see the value of their work over the long term, will be less frustrated with short term challenges.
You must be able to plan large activities and secure the necessary resources, volunteers and help that you need within the youth group, families and community.
A keen perspective on community development and stewardship is a benefit.
Have a great respect for privacy and confidentiality and stewardship is a benefit.
Have a great respect for privacy and confidentiality.
Demonstrate an understanding of the dynamics of abuse, and the legal requirements around disclosure.
Be a team player with a positive perspective.
